European workers' federation Emcef and chemical employers' group Eceg have come out in support of chemical industry demands that a proposed overhaul of EU chemicals policy be streamlined. A further impact assessment of the Reach system, risk-based prioritisation of testing and more consideration for SMEs and new member states are needed, they said in a joint statement with industry lobby Cefic. They also asked for the future European chemicals agency to have a stronger role in the implementation of the new legislation. See press release and statement.
