Key role for EPA in Sweden's ecocycle bill

The Swedish government on Thursday announced further revisions to its forthcoming ecocycle bill (EED 04/04/03). Under the proposed legislation the environmental protection agency (EPA) will be assigned a wide range of powers and responsibilities, the environment ministry said in a statement. Among other things, the agency will be expected to set up a new council dealing with waste issues and to draft a national waste management plan while monitoring developments in hazardous waste generation and the waste treatment market.
