The European Commission has launched a nine-month campaign to promote take-up of corporate social responsibility (CSR) practices by small firms (SMEs). The EU executive said on Tuesday that it was planning 65 "educational" events in member and candidate states plus Norway. This summer an official EU forum concluded that Europe's 25m SMEs face stiff barriers to adoption of CSR (EED 01/07/04). Working with EU business groups Eurochambres and Ueapme, the European Commission is seeking to "energise and motivate" SMEs to engage in CSR activities. See press release and CSR campaign pages.
