Green light for Swedish energy subsidies

The European Commission has approved tax breaks for Swedish companies working to cut energy consumption. Large manufacturing companies that take on board binding environmental commitments including energy saving measures and targets for a five year period will now get a full tax rebate on a current megawatt hour (MWh) energy tax. Sweden claims this could lead to a 2% drop in the country's energy consumption. See press release.
