Renewables group blasts Finnish nuclear "aid"

The European renewable energies federation Eref has demanded a European Commission investigation into what it alleges is illegal state aid for the building of a new nuclear power plant in Finland. Eref claims that the facility (EED 24/05/02) could not have been given a fixed price tag of €3.2 billion "without numerous acts of assistance", and that the loan companies involved ignored requirements to notify their intentions. The assistance has driven the predicted price for electricity generated by the plant down to market distorting levels, Eref claims. See Eref press release.
