Call for change in Denmark's waste sector

A Danish government working group on efficiency in the waste sector has called for more competition. The panel recommends that companies should be free to use any approved recycling facility anywhere in the country. Waste reporting routines should be simplified and costs and surcharges made more transparent, particularly at local authority level. However, "more detailed analysis" is required of potential measures for improving the efficiency of incineration plants and waste depots. See press release and working group.
