Outcome of the parliament's vote on substances in articles, evaluation, scope and duty of care

Results of the parliament's vote for a selection of other important aspects of the Reach proposal:

On substances contained in finished articles the parliament adopted a line that would apply Reach to fewer substances than foreseen by the UK plan. The British compromise would require registration of any substance present inarticles in quantities above one tonne and intended to be released from the product. MEPs said this would not be required unless the substance was alreadyclassified as hazardous under existing EU law.
