Ministers from the 25 EU member states have agreed a plan for sustainable communities following talks in the UK hosted by the British presidency. The Bristol accord, adopted on Wednesday, defines eight characteristics of sustainable communities, including that they are well run, well connected, well served with services and environmentally sensitive. Ministers also agreed to a study of how the European investment bank can contribute to sustainable communities. See press release and Bristol accord.
