The EU council of ministers has published the political agreement it reached last week on the Reach chemicals policy (EED 13/12/05). The text still must go through legal-linguistic checks before being adopted as a formal common position early next year. The European parliament will then begin its second reading of law. The agreement covers the main Reach regulation, plus an amendment to the 1967 directive on classification and labelling of dangerous substances. See provisional council texts of Reach regulation and directive.
