UN climate talks set to power up

Officials from 190 countries prepare to meet in Nairobi to debate global solutions to climate change

Parties to the UN climate change convention and its Kyoto protocol will start a fortnight of talks in Nairobi, Kenya, on Monday.  Debate on a post-2012 global climate policy framework and stricter emission targets (EED 12/12/05) will be balanced by discussions on adaptation and technology transfer to developing countries (EED 19/09/06).  NGOs are organising public protests in tens of European towns and cities on Saturday to press governments to agree urgent actions.  See UNFCCC pages and FOE Europe press release.
