EU solar thermal platform sets to work

Technology promotion group says solar will deliver "large part" of Europe’s heating by 2030

An EU-supported "technology platform" set up to promote solar thermal devices has predicted that by 2030 renewable solar thermal energy will provide over half of all heating in Europe’s buildings. The platform held its first working meeting in Brussels on Wednesday, and set itself the goal of establishing solar thermal as the "standard technology" for heating and cooling (EED 31/05/06). Three working groups were established to promote solar heat for residential buildings, in commercial applications, and to encourage market development.
