EU rewards Emas-registered organisations

Three champions receive prize for promoting EU’s eco-management scheme; registration "milestone" reached

The European commission held its annual awards ceremony for organisations operating the EU’s environmental management scheme (Emas) last week.  The event rewards the best Emas communications campaign in three size categories.  The prize for large organisations went to the Italian province of Bologna, for small and medium organisations to the German maintenance firm Mainau, and for "micro-organisations" to the small shop owners’ association of Canillas market in Madrid.  The commission also celebrated reaching over 5,000 Emas registered sites.  Around 3,400 organisations now follow Emas.  See European commission press release and memo.
