Verheugen’s green vision challenged

EEB warns that commissioner’s climate strategy would "betray European citizens’ hopes"

European environmental pressure group EEB has urged the European commission to reject a vision for EU energy and climate policies advanced by enterprise commissioner Günter Verheugen (EED 24/11/06).  "If you follow [his] approach," the group warns in a letter to all commissioners, "you will [produce a strategy] which de facto promotes nuclear energy, is weak on climate, is weak on renewables, and is giving in to the car industry".  See press release (with link to letter).
