Insulation makers count climate cost of buildings

Eurima calculates financial and emission implications of current building energy efficiency rules

European insulation trade body Eurima has renewed its attack on what it calls lax EU building insulation standards following its latest survey of the current state of national regulations. "Homeowners are being left out in the cold; current national requirements mean they are losing money and putting our climate in jeopardy," said president Jakob Sørensen. Eurima wants the EU energy performance of buildings directive to be extended to existing buildings. The European commission has promised to launch a reform of the law next year (EED 25/10/07).
