DINP, DIDP "should not be on Reach blacklist"

The two phthalates do not meet any of the criteria for including chemicals onto the list, plasticiser makers say

Plasticiser makers have strongly rejected a call to add phthalates DINP and DIDP on a list of "very high-concern" chemicals (SVHCs) whose production and use could eventually require special authorisation under the Reach regulation.  The call was made by green groups in October as the EU announced the first group of chemicals classed as SVHCs under Reach (EED 29/10/08).  The two phthalates do not meet any of the criteria for including chemicals onto the list, they said.  The chemicals were given the all-clear in 2006 (EED 21/04/06).  See Ecpi press release.
