Decline in emissions from Spanish energy sector

Carbon emissions drop by almost four per cent in the first half of 2008, according to green group WWF

Carbon emissions from Spain's energy sector fell by almost four per cent in the first half of 2008 compared to the same period in 2007, according to WWF.  The drop is due to several factors including a higher carbon price and increased renewable energy production, the green group says.  Emissions in the power sector were down by ten per cent as a result.  If sustained in the second half of the year, the decline will be the biggest fall in emissions since 1990.  See press release and report (both in Spanish)
