Germany launches environment technology plan

Government plan focuses on boosting eco-innovation in areas including water and climate protection

The German government has launched a plan aimed at making the country a world leader in eco-innovation.  The plan was outlined in a report published by the environment ministry on Wednesday.

The strategy is to get eco-innovations into the export market and increase Germany's sales of environmental technologies abroad.  To achieve this, the report recommends developing technology transfer partnerships, better marketing and significant increases in government spending on research, particularly for small firms.
