Nordics pour cash into green technologies

Denmark and Sweden announce more funding for low-carbon and energy efficiency research

Denmark and Sweden have announced substantial state funding for new energy technology projects, supporting an EU drive to tackle the economic downturn by spending on cleaner technology (EED 26/11/08).

A Danish technology development programme will dispense DKr50m (€6.7m), bringing the total distributed this year to DKr140m.  The funding will leverage a further DKr1.4bn of private funding in projects on energy efficiency, hydrogen and fuel cells, biomass, and second-generation biofuels.
