EU to boost energy efficiency laws

Energy efficiency is a main pillar of the EU’s second strategic energy review, tabled by the European commission on 13 November.

Three legislative proposals would help Europe realise the 20 per cent energy efficiency improvement it aspires to by 2020: revised energy performance of buildings, energy labelling laws and new tyre labelling rules.

The commission has also published policy papers on greening Europe’s energy infrastructure and technical guidelines on cogeneration.
