Environment-related investment by Italy's industry fell by 7.4% in 2007 in relation to the previous year despite a 13.3% increase in overall investment spend in the same period, according to a survey issued on Wednesday by Italy's statistics office ISTAT.
The drop was caused by a sharp fall in integrated technology investments, which plummeted by 31.3%, while end-of-pipe investments rose by 6.4%. Air- and climate-related investments fell the most, while spending on waste rose.
