Poland plans to strengthen packaging waste law

Poland is planning to strengthen national legislation on packaging waste to bring it in line with EU law, environment ministry said on Tuesday. One of the main proposals being considered is a registry of businesses involved in waste packaging management.

The registry will help Poland improve reports submitted to the European Commission on progress towards meeting the country's 2014 targets for packaging waste recovery and recycling. The ministry also wants great control over business activities in this area.
