Ministers to decide scrap metal end-of-waste criteria

The European Commission will formally ask EU ministers to decide on end-of-waste criteria for scrap metals later this week, ENDS has learned.

The criteria for deciding when iron, steel, aluminium and other metal waste ceases to be waste and can be considered a product once again were proposed by the commission in January. Scrap metals are the first materials to have end-of-waste criteria defined for them at EU level.
