The European Chemicals Agency (ECHA) has recommended 13 substances are added to the REACH regulation's annex XIV authorisation list. If the chemicals are added, companies wanting to use them will have to seek approval first.
ECHA consulted on its recommendation in the summer. The additions still have to be approved by a member state committee. Until that point, it will not be clear how long companies can continue to use the substances without authorisation.
