Italy continues to top EU green offenders list

Italy has once again come up on top of the EU executive’s list of green law offenders. It is involved in 5 of the 13 infringement actions announced on Wednesday

Italy has once again come up on top of the European Commission’s list of EU environmental law offenders. The country is involved in 5 of the 13 environment-related infringement actions announced by Brussels on Wednesday.

Italy is facing the prospect of legal action for allowing landfill sites to operate in breach of EU law. In a separate case last month, the commission said it was seeking a €56m fine because of Italy’s failure to clean up illegal sites.
