Four companies and two public bodies have received the EU’s annual green award for organisations registered under the EMAS eco-management scheme

Four companies and two public bodies have received the European Commission’s annual green award for organisations registered under the EMAS eco-management scheme. This year's awards rewarded efforts to save water.

Winners in the private sector include cement producer Lafarge, which cut its water consumption in the UK from 1.22 cubic metres per tonne of product in 2010 to 0.14m3 last year following an analysis of the life-cycle impact of its activities.
