A further 54 substances of very high concern (SVHCs) have been added to REACH’s candidate list, the European Chemicals Agency (ECHA) announced on Monday, bringing to 138 the total number of SVHCs on this list.
This means the European Commission has met its goal of identifying 136 SVHCs by the end of 2012. It is currently working on a roadmap on the identification of such substances, which could see about 1,900 SVHCs put on the candidate list by 2020.
