The EU is set to miss its 2020 energy savings target unless “high level” action is taken to reverse growing demand, which increased for the third year in a row in 2017, the Brussels-based Coalition for Energy Savings has warned.
“A decline in energy savings is a political, economic and security liability,” said Stefan Scheuer, secretary general of the Coalition for Energy Savings, which counts energy and insulation firms, local authorities, trade unions and campaign groups among its members.
