Industry leaders have made a last-minute appeal to members of the European Parliament’s industry and energy committee (ITRE) to support the continuation of subsidies for residual waste treatment

Waste sector leaders have made a last-minute appeal to members of the European Parliament’s industry and energy committee (ITRE) to support the continuation of subsidies for residual waste treatment plants such as energy-from-waste incinerators.

ITRE will adopt on Wednesday its opinion on European Commission proposals for EU cohesion and regional development funding, in which the EU executive seeks to end support for the incineration of unsorted municipal waste.
