The European Parliament demanded on Tuesday that the herbicide glyphosate be banned from the EU by the end of 2022, piling pressure on government delegates on the eve of a critical vote on re-authorisation.

Although the resolution adopted in Strasbourg has no legal effect, it comes amid widespread public concern over the safety of the world’s most widely used agricultural chemical.
