Commission recommits to 35% climate funding target

The European Commission has recommitted to meeting its 35% target for funding climate action from its biggest ever research funding scheme, Horizon 2020

The European Commission has recommitted to meeting its 35% target for funding climate action from its biggest ever research funding scheme, Horizon 2020.

The EU executive revealed details of how it will spend the remaining €30 billion of the research and innovation funding including billions for climate, energy and circular economy projects.

The scheme was criticised in 2016 by the EU Court of Auditors for allocating just 24% of Horizon 2020 funds to climate action, missing its 35% target.
