The UK and Canada have used UN climate talks in Bonn to launch a global alliance on Thursday of around 25 countries and regions committed to phasing out coal from power generation

The UK and Canada have used UN climate talks in Bonn to launch a global alliance on Thursday of around 25 countries and regions committed to phasing out coal from power generation.

EU member states including among others the UK, France, Italy the Netherlands and Denmark are part of the grouping, known as the Powering Past Coal Alliance. Other notable signatories include Mexico and some US states. The alliance aims to have 50 signatories by the end of next year.
