European aircraft maker Airbus was given special privileges by the Commission in determining the 28-nation bloc’s position at the UN’s aviation body (ICAO), according to an email obtained by NGO Transport & Environment.

In a statement on Tuesday, T&E said the correspondence suggests that Airbus directly amended the EU’s negotiating position for ICAO, even though the world’s second-largest plane maker will be regulated by the rules currently being discussed at the UN body.
