A climate summit hosted by French President Emmanuel Macron got promises from some major lenders to turn their back on fossil fuels ahead of a strong diplomatic push to deliver on the pledges outlined in the 2015 Paris agreement.

The One Planet Summit in Paris attempted to showcase announcements by financial institutions to pave the way for the deep decarbonisation that scientists say must occur within the next decade if the world is to avoid runaway climate change.
