Poland gets EC backing for green scheme

The European Commission has approved Poland’s €9.4 billion renewable energy scheme that will provide state support to both small and large electricity generators

The European Commission has approved Poland’s €9.4 billion renewable energy scheme that will provide state support to both small and large electricity generators after concluding the measures comply with state aid rules.   

On Wednesday, the EU’s competition commission said it had given the green light to the Polish government scheme, which grants PLN 40 billion (€9.5bn) to producers of electricity from renewable sources.
