Commission announces second batch of enforcement actions following summer infringements meeting

The European Commission has announced a second series of legal enforcement actions against EU member states concerning environmental directives following its summer infringements meeting held earlier this month. Nearly half of EU countries are being targeted in this latest round.

Greek waste fine closed:

After four months of consideration, the Commission has finally stopped its landmark infringement action against Greece over an illegal Cretan landfill. Last year, this resulted in the first ever daily fines imposed by the European Court of Justice on an EU member state.
