Firms argue business case for sustainability

Governments must do more to create the "right framework conditions," says WBCSD

The World business council for sustainable development (WBCSD) has issued a ten-point business case for sustainability in preparation for next year's Rio+10 summit. At the heart of its case, is an eco-efficiency management strategy that "creates more value with less impact through de-linking goods and services from the use of nature".

Corporate social responsibility and triple bottom line reporting - including environmental, social and financial aspects - are two other strands of the council's case, both of which "offer clear business benefits".
