Greenpeace last week called on the Spanish government to "stop ignoring environmental issues" and to ensure that pressing global and European environmental problems such as energy use, GMOs and climate change are effectively addressed during its EU presidency term next year.
Greenpeace Spain's director Juan Lopez de Uralde said it was vital that Madrid should play an effective leading role in the "far-reaching decisions that are going to be taken in the coming months and in preparations for the Rio +10 summit".
