Norway issues supplementary budget

New government replaces month-old plan with its own proposals on energy, transport, PCBs

Norway's new centre-right government has presented budget proposals for next year featuring an extra NKr50m (euros 6.4m) each for energy policy initiatives and public transport in the capital.

The energy allocation will fund research into clean natural gas power, energy conservation measures, support for renewables, and contingency planning and research in the oil industry.

In a statement on Friday the environment ministry noted that these allocations alone represented a NKr100m increase over budget proposals published by its predecessor a month ago (EED 11/10/01).
