Parliament adopts pro-nuclear stance on future energy security after heated debate

The European parliament has given the nuclear and coal industries a significant boost in a resolution on the future of the EU energy supply, by calling for them to receive significant financial and research support.

Adopted yesterday in Strasbourg, the non-binding resolution is a response to last year's European Commission green paper on the security of energy supply (EED 30/11/00). It amounts to a huge wish-list from MEPs for the future direction of EU energy policy.
