The Norwegian government is to scale down controls on businesses that have voluntarily implemented environmental management systems, the pollution control authority (SFT) has announced. Any firm with either the EU's environmental management standard EMAS or the international ISO 14001 system will be affected.
Due to take effect from the new year, the change will halve the costs and fees associated with environmental supervision, the agency said in a statement.
