Sustainability reporting health checks promoted

European accountants launch debate on third-party verification of corporate reports

European accountancy association Fee has launched a consultation on how to create standards for third-party verification of corporate sustainability reports. At a conference on sustainability in Copenhagen, yesterday, it published its proposals alongside the annual European environmental reporting awards.

Sustainability reporting is a topical issue in the EU. Following a European Commission green paper on corporate social responsibility (CSR) last year, the European Parliament is currently drafting a resolution that could call for mandatory verified reports (EED 23/04/02).
