Firms' internal, external environmental performance improved; jury out on mobile phones and health

The information and communications technology sector has made great strides towards improving the environmental performance of its operations and products, but sees its external role as "an enabler of greater sustainability" as offering the greatest potential. This is the conclusion of a report published as part of the Unep series for the Johannesburg sustainability summit next month by the Global e-sustainability initiative (GeSI), a coalition of information and communication technology (ICT) companies.
