Denmark to slash emission permits system

Government looks to recognise good corporate environmental performance through simpler procedures

The Danish government has appointed a commission to streamline its system of emissions permits, the environmental protection agency (EPA) announced today.

"Danish companies are good at environment," environment minister Hans Christian Schmidt said in a statement. "Many of them employ environmental managers, they are often environmentally certified and use green accounting.... Now it is time to look at how we can modernise and simplify the procedures and rules under which these companies operate."
