EU lists persistent and accumulative chemicals

Chemicals bureau close to finalising set of high-concern substances for potential authorisation

EU chemicals experts have produced a first list of persistent and bioaccumulative substances that may eventually be classified as chemicals of high concern requiring authorisation under the forthcoming Reach system.

Details of the list are revealed in the latest issue of the European chemicals bureau's newsletter, though the substances on it have not been identified. Bureau officials said a definitive version would be published after consultation with industry to iron out data inconsistencies.
