National MPs urge strong EU chemical policy

Parliamentary environment committee members press Commission officials over Reach

Representatives of national parliamentary environment committees have urged the European Commission not to water down forthcoming legislative proposals for stronger European chemicals rules. The calls were made at a meeting bringing together members from 17 current and future EU member state parliamentary committees.

The meeting revealed general concern that the Commission could now drop several policies it put forward in a white paper nearly two years ago, meeting host and Danish parliamentary environment committee chairman Eyvind Vesselbo told ENDS Europe DAILY.
