Warm initial response to EU resources paper

Stakeholders underline potential importance of future strategy, stress need for political will

Proposals for an EU strategy on natural resources released last week by the European Commission have received a warm welcome from key stakeholders. The strategy could be enormously influential in setting a new framework for EU environmental policy-making. Its significance appears yet to be fully appreciated in the wider business and environmentalist communities.

Many organisations are still digesting the Commission's paper. ENDS Europe DAILY sought initial responses from Assurre, an industry-led lobby group on sustainable resources management, and green coalition group the European environmental bureau (EEB).
