Guidance on best available technology for slaughterhouses, animal by-products industries nears completion

Guidance on best available technology (BAT) for environmental protection in Europe's slaughterhouses and animal by-products industries has been proposed by the EU's integrated pollution prevention and control (IPPC) bureau, based in Seville.

It also advocates upstream integration - creating what the bureau calls a "chain of environmental responsibility".
