EU pollution inspectors network "growing up"

Impel eyes greater role advising on practicality of existing and proposed green legislation

Europe's Impel network of pollution inspectors is to expand its operations in a new push to ensure that EU green legislation achieves real environmental benefits. Delegates from around Europe debated the network's achievements and prospects at a conference in the Netherlands that ended on Wednesday.

Despite being more than ten years old Impel has not achieved much visibility. Having expanded its membership to 29 countries in January, the network is now preparing to change that, with the likelihood of more resources and a broader scope.
