The EU will continue to allow packaging incinerated with energy recovery to count towards new packaging waste recovery targets, delegations representing EU governments and the European parliament agreed on Thursday. The deal has infuriated environmentalists, who accused both sides of a stitch-up and of ditching a key tenet of EU waste policy.
