UN climate talks in Milan drawing to a close

Kyoto protocol's last operational details nearly finalised as informal talks begin on emission targets after 2012

As this edition of ENDS Europe DAILY was published, only a few hours remained for ministers attending the UN climate change conference in Milan to reach agreement on financial instruments for helping poor countries mitigate and adapt to climate change.

The 9th conference of parties to the UN climate change convention has focused on tidying up loose ends of the Kyoto protocol's many operational rules agreed in 2001. A number of texts were approved by ministers on Thursday. The event ends on Friday.
